How to connect Invoice Ninja and ShipStation

Step 1: Set up n8n

In n8n, click the "Add workflow" button in the Workflows tab to create a new workflow.

Step 3: Add the first step

Add the starting point – a trigger on when your workflow should run: on an app event, on schedule, on a webhook call, when called by another workflow, or manually. In some cases, the HTTP Request node might already serve as your starting point.

Step 4: Add the Invoice Ninja node

Drag the Invoice Ninja node from the nodes panel on the left to the workflow canvas. Before dragging, choose the action Invoice Ninja will perform. You can also swap steps and add the ShipStation node first, as the step 4.

Step 5: Authenticate Invoice Ninja

Click on the Invoice Ninja node, then click on the "Select credential" dropdown option next to the “Credential to connect with” field. Follow the authentication process to grant n8n access to your Invoice Ninja. You can also share credentials you've created, and store sensitive credential information in an external vault using n8n's external secrets feature.

Step 6: Add ShipStation using the HTTP Request node

Add the HTTP Request node to your workflow canvas and authenticate it using a predefined credential type. This allows you to perform custom operations, without additional authentication setup.

Connect the output of the ShipStation node to the input of the Invoice Ninja node or vice versa.

Step 10: Save and activate workflow

Once you've configured everything, make sure to save your workflow and activate it. Activating a workflow means that it will run automatically every time a trigger node receives input or meets a condition. By default, all newly created workflows are deactivated.

Step 11: Test the workflow

Run the workflow to see if everything is working as expected. Based on your configuration, data should flow from Invoice Ninja to ShipStation or vice versa. Easily debug your workflow: you can check past executions to isolate the mistake and fix it.
